The trumpeter Matej Korbelič was born in 1996 in Bratislava, Slovakia. Already during his studies of classical music at the Conservatory in Bratislava, he regularly performed with many professional ensembles. With the Tibor Feledi Kairos Quintet, he won the award for the best jazz album of 2018 in Slovakia at the Radio Head Awards 2019. Alongside many other well-known musicians from the Slovak, Czech, and Austrian music scenes, he had the opportunity to perform and collaborate with world musicians such as Lilie Nicole McCloud, Ali Caldwell, Benito Gonzales, Andreas Varady, Antony Wonsey, Martin Valihora and many others. After many years as a sideman, he decided two years ago to form his own band and compose his own compositions. Matej Korbelič is studying Jazz Trumpet at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden, Germany with Professors Malte Burba and Till Brönner.
